No-Knead Bread class

Jim Lahey’s No-Knead Bread receipe

as published in the New York Times November 2006.

I wasn’t done writing this post when it just published itself.  Sorry about that.

So, Ladies for our class we will be talking and baking the above receipe as well as what I call my Starbucks Bread which is the King Arthur Flour No-knead Harvest bread.  (I call it that because I use all my leftover cranberry/raisin packets from the oatmeal I sometimes partake of at Starbucks). Ok, decide which bread YOU want to prepare and bring your ingredients as listed in the receipe plus, of course, a bowl and a Kochloeffel (wooden spoon).

The Harvest bread requires the following:

  1. 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour

  2. 1 cup whole wheat flour

  3. 2 tsp salt

  4. 1/2 tsp instant yeast

  5. 1 3/4 cups COOL water

  6. 3/4 cup dried cranberries

  7. 1/2 cup golden raisins

  8. 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts

We will be meeting this Thursday in the kitchen at 6.30 pm so that we will have enought time to bake and partake.  If some will bring some butter and a good marmelade for sampling after, that would be great.  And it’s always good to bring some salt, since that is the ingredient I tend to forget myself.

If you can send me a quick comment to let me know you are attending, I would much appreciate it.  Know also, that if you attend my class you will be blogged about.  Let me know, if that is NOT ok with you.
