Community Bread Bakes
Kettle Falls Community Chest
After relocating our Nonprofit to Northeast Wasington, we had the opportunity in April of 2025 to try out our hand carved community dough trough (donated by Boulder Creek Rustics) for preparing dough for 20 loaves of nourishing sourdough bread. The bread was donated to the food bank at the Kettle Falls Community Chest and enjoyed by their clients.

Community Through Hope
BREAD Encounters first community bake took place in June of 2020. We collaborated with the women's ministry of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and also invited other sourdough baking community members to join us in providing freshly baked loaves to community members with food insecurities during COVID times. You can read more about it here

Bread Across Borders
In August of 2022 we had the opportunity to organize our "Bread Crossing Borders" community bread bake in San Diego. In collaboration with The Border Church we were able to to deliver 80 loaves of bread with a big heart sticker on the front declaring our intention to "Share The Loaf" with asylum seekers, refugees and others who attended the non-denominational services on the Mexican side of the US/Mexican border. The bread recipients were deeply touched by the kindness of those who baked the bread for them "just because"
