SHARING my passion for bread baking, and sourdough in particular, has been part of most of my adult life. Born and raised in Germany, bread is part of my cultural heritage and upon coming to the States good bread was something I greatly missed.
REALIZING that I can make a difference and help change the world by spreading kindness through bread and becoming a "community bread activist" did not happen until many years later (2017) I listened to a TEDTalk by Dr. Nadezhda Savova-Grigova, an anthropologist and founder of BREAD Houses Network in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her talk reflected everything I felt about the power of bread to connect people and make a positive impact in a world that needs more kindness. I was able to conenct with Nadezhda and we have been corresponding of the past few years. She is very excited about BREAD Encounters' mission and progress so far.
STARTING a non-profit to spread kindness and connect people through bread was the next logical next step, but it still took a few years and a leap of faith. I am thrilled I followed my passion and will be able to share my love for bread with people from ALL walks of life while at the same time helping people create meaningful connections. How blessed I am to be able to work with a team who shares my passion for spreading benignity (kindness) through bread!
I am a trained Practitioner/Bread Therapist and official Crumbassador of the Bread Therapy Network. I was trained by Nadezhda Savova-Grigorova, PhD – founder of the Bread Houses Network.

Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the wonderful smells and tastes of home cooked meals from a mother who wanted to make sure her kids ate healthily. Getting to savor freshly baked bread is one of my favorite memories growing up, and seeing this, my mom made sure to teach me all about baking bread. Being half German, bread it is also part of my cutural heritage.
We founded BREAD Encounters together with the vision to bring the joys of bread, in all its forms, to the communities around us.
I am also an offical "Crumbassador" for Bread Houses Network and certified in their methods of Bread Therapy®

I was born and educated in North-Germany where I graduated with a window dresser/interior decorator design and business degree.
When my family moved to San Diego, California in 2000, I was able to complete additional studies in interior design. I also worked as a volunteer for many years for the cancer society, as well as for a corporate company and a local farm.
Missing traditional German and European breads, I started to bake bread for my own family and was soon encouraged by friends and family to start my own bread baking business. This changed quickly into a bread baking workshop/classroom setting. Passing on knowledge, passion and skills to other bread lovers was not only therapeutic for me but also gave me the opportunity to encourage people to start baking nutritious and wholesome bread for themselves and their families.
Joining the BREAD Encounters team started me on a new exciting journey which lets me combine my passion for bread with my desire to make a difference in the community by sharing my knowledge and supporting people in need with wholesome nutritious bread!
